Material Testing System

MTS is a high performance, closed loop, electro hydraulic component testing system and is designed for a wide range of components and structural fatigue testing applications. The system consists of a hydraulic power pack to give a hydraulic pressure of 210 Kg/cm2 with a flow rate of 210 lpm which is sent to a Hydraulic Actuator or Hydraulic Ram to operate at a frequency of 0.1 Hz to 1100 Hz with a displacement of 150 mm.

The system has four Actuators two with 100 KN and two with 25 KN each. The system is connected with a data display unit along with an X-Y recorder to monitor the test data, which can be connected to a computer to acquire the required data. Though the system is utilized in the fatigue test laboratory for testing and R & D activities of automobile components, such as shock absorbers, clutch disc assembly, engine-mounting pad, balata packing etc., it is mainly used for testing leaf spring assembly. The endurance test of both front and rear leaf spring assemblies of Tata and Leyland vehicles are conducted to find out the load rate and scrag and to evaluate the fatigue cycles of leaf spring assembly at a frequency of 1 Hz with different load cycles at different stress level.
