The Institute conducts a wide range of management development
programmes covering all functional areas of transport
and general management. It also conducts programmes for
senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian PoliceService
(IPS) officials on the broad policy framework in transport and related disciplines.
|
The functional programmes are
in traffic and operations management, maintenance
management, materials management, financial management,
personnel management, management information system, fuel
and oil economy, quality control, etc. The duration of the programmes
usually range from 1 week to 4 weeks.
The
programmes are so planned as to equip the participants with modern management
techniques and skills for efficient functioning and to
adequately face the growing complexity of managing transport undertakings.
In order to involve senior executives and to focus their
attention on specific problems in each functional area, 1-week
intensive programmes are also conducted.
The
executive development programmes have a two-pronged approach. One
is to create a conceptual frameworkfor the development of executive
talent and managerial skills for a fundamental understanding of
the nature of passenger road transport industry. The
other is to develop operational skills by adopting a problem solving
approach towards the challenges facing the road transport industry.
Inaddition CIRT conducts foundation courses for management trainees freshly
recruited to hold general management and functional positions. The
programmes range from 6 weeks to 12 weeks depending upon
the training needs identified in mutual discussions between the
employer and CIRT. These programmes are conducted on campus.
Off
campus, in situ, programmes are also organised
at the request of client organisations inorder to cover a larger number
of executives on focused themes. However, these cannot replace on campus
programmes which have the advantage of appropriate infrastructure
including library and computer
support. |
