V D Chavan, an Automobile Engineer with over 28 years experience in Automotive Sector; started professional career as Lecturer in reputed Engineering College and in the year 1988 he joined CIRT.

His work profile is principally focused on testing, monitoring & evaluation of Automobile Components as per IS, AIS, ASRTU and other related CMVR Standards. As In-charge of the laboratories (ie, Electrical, Photometry & Automobile), he has taken lot of ingenuity in (1) carrying out developmental test and (2) formulation & up gradation of technical specification based on the test data analysis. In addition, implementation of Quality systems viz. ISO:9001, EMS:1401, NABL accredited testing is also a part of his profile.

In customer service division, he was mainly associated with resolving the technical issues related to samples, coordination for sample testing within the laboratories and managing MIS of testing samples.

V D Chavan went on deputation to ASRTU as Assistant Director (Tech & Engg.) and during his tenure of 06 years; he gained the working knowledge of work inspection for the firms/vendors, testing of components as per ASRTU rate contract and updating & maintaining MIS data base etc.

On his repatriation to CIRT, he was sent to Yokohama, Japan for AOTS Training Program on “International Standardizations”. He has also undergone NABL Training on Laboratory Competence as per ISO/IEC 17025. He represented CIRT at various national level conferences, technical meeting & discussions.
